Description

New approaches to interoperability seek to comingle local EHR data with data from outside records, such that clinicians see outside records within their standard workflow. We assessed the impact of such a change at a large academic medical center and found large increases in levels of outside record viewing spread across encounter types (emergency, inpatient, ambulatory) and user types (residents, attendings, nurses, other).

Learning Objective: Understand the impact of integrating patient data from outside records with local electronic health record data on how often outside records are viewed by frontline clinicians.
