Description

Patient-peer support has great potential to help inpatients overcome the many informational and experiential challenges that they encounter during a hospital stay. However, technology-enabled peer support in this context has not yet been explored. In this podium abstract, we describe our design of a technology probe to facilitate peer support, and investigate how pediatric and adult patients use this probe to interact with each other in the real-world context of their hospitalization.

Learning Objective: To consider the different usage patterns of pediatric and adult patients regarding inpatient peer support technologies.
