Description

Public policy has sought to support use of eHealth tools that support communication between patients and providers. In data from 2003-2018, the disparity by education and race/ethnicity in use of eHealth tools to support patient and provider communication has grown relative to independent eHealth tools, which policy did not target. This trend is particularly pronounced since 2011, when Federal policy took effect. Future policy should consider methods to support online patient-provider communication by disadvantaged groups.

Learning Objective: Learn how trends in eHealth use have changed since 2003 and especially since passage of supportive public policy.
