Description

SNOMED-CT is an interdisciplinary terminology shared by both nurses and physicians. We evaluated the linkages through the SNOMED-CT relationships to evaluate the differences in terminology and practice. Within the 10 hear failure patients, only 2 terms out of the 300 terms were within two nodes in the SNOMED-CT hierarchy. Even using the same terminology does not ensure the same language is used to document care between professionals.

Learning Objective: 1. Evaluate the professional differences in the terms used by physicians and nurses using the hierarch of SNOMED-CT.
