Description

In this work we propose a framework to capture and define the semantic models of clinical concepts in a way that combines clinical knowledge captured in expert-derived standards with the insights of a data-driven approach. Decades of effort has produced vast amounts of curated clinical knowledge in the form of standard semantic models – a unique advantage of this domain. Leveraging this shared knowledge base in data-driven techniques will make semantic interoperability more achievable, applicable, and practical for real-world use cases.

Learning Objective: Learn the main aspects of how data-driven techniques and domain standards can be used cooperatively to elicit semantic models.
