Description

There is potential for inadvertent harm to patients in relation to technology usage in healthcare, however this safety risk is not well understood, particularly in primary and community care settings. Adverse events related to technology were analyzed using descriptive statistics to assess their frequency and resultant level of harm. In two years, 105 events were reported, 18% of which indicated some level of harm, with 65% related to medications, and public health had the greatest number of reported events, while home care had the least.
