The SBAR mnemonic is one of the approaches used to improve handoffs. Using Atlas.ti, we coded a handoff dataset by thematic analysis and then grouped the codes according to the SBAR mnemonic. EventFlow then allowed us to better visualize codes and groups for a sequential analysis. Using both Atlas.ti and EventFlow provides new insight into our analysis. Our results can help guide future training programs for handoffs.
