As part of the implementation of the National Patient-Centered Clinical Research Network (PCORnet) Opioid Surveillance Demonstration, the study team was required to develop medication, diagnosis, procedure, and lab value sets to be applied when querying historical EHR data from the time period 2010-2017. The goal of this poster is to highlight the challenges and solutions associated with the development of value sets for studies and surveillance models that leverage historical data.
