Description

We performed a comparative analysis testing the ability of REDCap and Qualtrics to serve as platforms for a factorial design survey (FDS) using pilot tests. REDCap lacks randomization, so a workaround was developed that combined both on- and off-platform methods to run an FDS pilot. The randomization capability of Qualtrics supported a completely on-platform pilot. This improved capability coupled without a significant difference in user preference suggests Qualtrics is a superior FDS software.

Learning Objective: After participating in this session, the learner should be better able to: 1) Understand the importance of selecting an appropriate survey software when conducting a factorial design survey to avoid creating an unusable survey; and 2) Learn the challenges and possible solutions in implementing a factorial design survey on popular survey software.
