Description

We propose a Performance Summary Display Ontology (PSDO) as a formal computable model for describing visual displays used in clinical quality dashboards and reports. We developed an easily extendable design paradigm to represent information visualizations with regard to context-specific semantics. By strengthening ontological representation of information visualizations, we believe that we can contribute to better management of visual displays and create a foundation for studying heterogeneous visualizations in the context of learning health systems.

Learning Objective: To introduce the purpose, content, development process, and potential benefits of an ontology for displays of clinical performance.
