Description

There is evidence that order sets may be used to help reduce inappropriate or contraindicated practices. With recent guidelines recommending against routine CK testing, we examined the impact of removing the CK order from an order set on provider ordering behavior and compared results to educational interventions. Results found that both order set modification and educational interventions were associated with decreases in ordering. Order sets have the potential to reduce inappropriate ordering behavior.

Learning Objective: To evaluate the impact of order removal of CK test order from an ambulatory order set on provider ordering behavior compared to educational interventions.
