Description
Representations of urine drug tests and their results are highly variable in the electronic health record across the 170 VA medical centers (VAMC). Using existing ontologies when possible, a new class and a semantic representation for urine drug tests was created. Future directions include creation of an OWL artifact, publication for public comment, and trialing within a particular VAMC to better identify patients with aberrant urine drug test results.
