Description

Effective pharmacotherapy and medication exposure research require accurate data on patient medication use. Trajectory models of patient refill records have proven effective in predicting patient pharmacotherapeutic outcomes. Yet models that predict future patient behavior remain elusive, requiring months of medication records—which may not be available. We propose methods to improve trajectories used for modeling refill records and link them to patient lab values over time as a step toward predicting patient medication behavior.

Learning Objective: Understand how longitudinal measures of medication persistence and adherence can improve prediction of patient outcomes and future medication-taking behavior.
