Description
Due to increased interest in SDH data, we developed a methodology to extract and analyze both structured and unstructured SDH diagnosis from problems list data from a large ambulatory EHR database. Results of analysis demonstrated that SDH diagnostic data is being collected within the Problems Table of ambulatory EHRs, however this data is being collected by a small percentage of health care systems and on a small percentage of SDH topic areas.
Learning Objective: 1. Understand issues pertaining to pulling structured and unstructured SDH from an ambulatory EHR
2. Identify strategies for pulling SDH data using ICD10 codes, ICD9 code, SNOMED codes, and free-text pattern matching algorithms
3. Identify methods to standardized extracted data to recognized SDH topic areas.
