Abstract Body: AMIA’s Informatics Partnership Council (IPC) is the home for leading organizations to connect and collaborate on shared informatics interests. IPC members play a vital role in advancing informatics while deepening their reach in the informatics community. Curated for the Annual Symposium audience, the 2019 IPC session is a moderated dialog between industry veterans and attendees interesting in learning first-hand about industry today, and in the future. Panelists will share their individual challenges and organizational innovations and discuss the types of innovations currently needed within the informatics industry. They serve as unique subject matter experts, covering current topics such as artificial intelligence (AI) and natural language processing (NLP), the new role of Data Scientists, knowledge representation, electronic health record (EHR) connectivity and more. Today’s industry challenges are opportunities for innovation, but often require a wide range of domain expertise to be solved effectively. The panel will provide insight into what future skills and expertise will be needed for the next generation of informaticians.
