Description

The current informed consent (IC) process, does not always guarantee patient comprehension due to a number of barriers, including high-level medical vocabulary and lack of patient engagement. We describe how we used Patient-Centered Design and virtual coaching to create IC tool that runs on iPads and overcomes barriers in IC communications and improves patient comprehension. We tested our tool using randomized control trial with 50 subjects in real world genetic clinical trial.

Learning Objective: Describe how mobile devises and virtual coaching can be used to enhance the completed process of the informed consent.
