I have been involved in applied clinical informatics research, development and education for 30 years at various academic medical centers including: Utah, Yale, Vanderbilt, Harvard, Oregon Health & Science University, and now University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. I also serve as an expert witness in patent infringement and other types of legal matters related to health information technology (HIT), electronic health records (EHR or EMR), and clinical decision support (CDS). I have also worked on several legal disputes involving contracts, medical malpractice, and audit log issues.
