Description

Health systems are increasingly interested in using digital tools to incorporate patient-reported outcomes (PROs) in clinical care, yet paper-based approaches remain the mainstay of clinical data collection. Little evidence exists to guide care processes and ensure appropriate clinical follow-up of PROs when using patient-facing technology, like patient portals. This study presents on three prospective pilots to test PRO data capture via the patient portal, providing foundational learnings to advance the use of electronic PRO collection.

Learning Objective: Identify workflow challenges and possible solutions for using patient portals to incorporate patient-reported outcomes in clinical practice.
