Description

Healthcare organizations struggle to identify and treat post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) after traumatic brain injury (TBI). Electronic health record (EHR) data could help identify patients at high risk of developing PTSD following TBI and promote follow-up for appropriate treatment. Here, we explore the possibility of using EHR system data to understand the frequency of PTSD after TBI.

Learning Objective: After participating in this session, the learner should be able to:

1) Understand the challenges of capturing post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) after traumatic brain injury (TBI) in the electronic health record, and
2) Identify patients at high risk for developing PTSD following TBI using alternative computable phenotyping.
