Description
Online health communities (OHCs) has been a resource for health care providers to understand and prioritize patients and caregivers’ needs. However, it is time consuming to identify those needs and concerns from OHCs manually. Our long-term goal is to design an automated system to classify needs of patients and/or caregivers written in the OHCs. As a first step, we applied the discourse dialog act classification to develop the framework for the system.
Learning Objective: The learner should be better able to learn challenges and possible solutions in creating dialog act classification for patients generated data from the online health community.
