Description

Electronic Medical Records (EMR) have created a wealth of data available for clinical and operations research. Sharing data among researchers or outside of the healthcare system represents significant challenges due to patient privacy protection regulations. Developing new methods for sharing data that protects patient privacy or confidentiality would greatly benefit clinical research. Creating realistic synthetic data would be one approach that could provide data for hypothesis generation, algorithm development, and biomedical research.

Learning Objective: Understand the process of developing synthetic Veteran Affairs (VA) healthcare data.
