Description

Medication adherence is typically calculated using pharmacy fill or prescription claims data from closed systems. We applied a set of heuristics to calculate medication adherence using open claims and demonstrated consistency in the expected relationship with prescription complexity and route of administration.

Learning Objective: Understand the differences between open and closed claims data
Become familiar with a common measure of medication adherence
Consider the Sankey diagram as a visualization method to illustrate relationships between trends in the data
Appreciate the utility of real-world data in determining medication adherence
