Bio

I am an Associate Professor of Information Systems at the School of Computing and Informatics Technology, and Founder & Chair of the Health Informatics Research Lab at Makerere University. I am a member of the Digital Health & Interoperability Working Group of Health Data Collaborative. I was part of the 10-member Core team that developed the Uganda National eHealth Policy & Strategy, and together as HI research group collaborate with the Ministry of Health, Uganda for its implementation. Some of the HI research projects I am leading include: i) Assessing the Potential for Transforming Health in Uganda through an Electronic Health Data Sharing Platform and Data Science; ii) Building the National eHealth Enterprise Architecture and Interoperability Framework for HIE for Uganda’s Health Sector; iii) Standardizing eHealth in Uganda; iv) Developing and Implementing the National eRegistries (Client, Health Worker and Health Facility); v) Examining Optimizing Data Use and Utilization for Uganda’s Health System through Interoperability, Data Standards and Governance; and vi) Beyond Monitoring Functionality to Impact Evaluation of eHealth Implementations in Uganda. My research focuses on Information Systems in the areas of: Health & Clinical Informatics, Analysis & Modeling of Data Flow and Business Processes, Impact Evaluations, Strategic Information Management, Enterprise Architecture, Standards, Interoperability and Collaboration Engineering.
